WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMERICAN UPLAND COTTON AND UPLAND COTTON FROM OTHER COUNTRIES?

The answer is simple: confidence. When you buy a product with 100% American-grown HomeGrown Cotton, you can be confident your product hasn’t been blended with cotton that might have been grown unethically and unsustainably. In countries like Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, and India, the cotton industry is rife with harmful pesticides and unethical labor practices, like child labor. That cotton often makes its way into the conventional cotton supply chain and eventually into retail products. The only way to avoid these products is to make sure your cotton is 100% American grown. Like ours.

WHAT TYPES  OF COTTON ARE OUT THERE?

The cotton that makes its way onto store shelves comes from three distinct species. While Egyptian cotton and pima cotton are both extra-long staple cottons that can make for luxurious, high-end fabrics, upland cotton offers accessible, affordable quality that’s perfect for everyday fabrics. HomeGrown is the only upland cotton that is tracked and traced from farm to store.

HOW ARE HOMEGROWN COTTON PRODUCTS MADE?

After our upland cotton is harvested by our farmers at the end of a long growing season, it is ginned to remove seeds, baled, and spun into yarn. The yarn is then woven into a wide variety of fabrics before being cut and sewn into apparel, home textiles, and other high-quality cotton products you’ll love. HomeGrown is made a little differently because we make the extra effort to test for purity at every step.

WHERE ARE HOMEGROWN PRODUCTS MADE?

In order to deliver high-quality cotton products at an affordable price, products that contain HomeGrown are currently manufactured overseas. However, we are excited about recent advances made in American manufacturing and are interested in partnering with American manufacturers to make the next great American-grown cotton product.
